2017 Goal: 52 parks in 52 weeks

I’m a bit of an over analyzer and do a lot of introspection. New Year’s Eve 2016, I started thinking about what I had accomplished during the year and although I was happy about some things, I was left with a little disappointment. I wasnt happy with my blog and I wanted this blog to go in a different direction.  I also want to learn more and elevate my photography skills so I decided that I needed a challenge.  (I may or may not have been drinking champagne while doing this revelation 😉

So I sat and listed all of the things that I like to do and what goals I wanted to meet this year. I came up with this challenge to hike 52 trails and visit as many national, local and state parks in and around North and South Carolina by the end of December 2017. I would then document it on this blog and share photos as well as posting some on my Instagram account.

Hiking and trail walking are serious passions of mine. If I had endless funds and all of the free time in the world I’d spend it in the mountains just walking around, taking photos. Being outside, for me, is more relaxing and rejuvenating than being at the spa. I recenter, regroup and it’s where I feel that my creativity is the highest. I can’t really put it into words because it’s a feeling.  I try to translate that feeling into my photos.

I don’t know what this it will lead to or if I’ll even like it. I am hoping that I’ll find some new hiking spots, see some cool stuff and enhance my photographic skills along the way. Who knows, maybe I’ll keep it going next year and start traveling in and outside of the country. (that would be awesome by the way!)

If there’s a park or trail that is a favorite or must see, let me know and I’ll see if I can check it out. Also, if you see any photos that you like and want prints let me know!

I usually end my blog posts with this phrase: Go outside, notice everything, let nature be your nurturer and photograph it all!!!

It’s how I live and hope to inspire others to do the same
